POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Visit Policy: Once we put an appointment on the calendar, I regard that slot of time as yours.  I will be there on time and ready to work with you.  If we had planned an in-person session, it will always be possible to change it to a video or telephone session, and if you arrive late, we will use what remains of the time.  It is important for the efficacy of any kind of treatment that visits be structured and consistent.  Therefore visits will start on time and end on time. If you need to cancel, I request that you do so 72 hours in advance; with later cancellations, I will attempt to reschedule within the next few days, but if this is not possible, or if you miss an appointment without rescheduling, you will be charged the full fee for the timeslot.

Fees:  Currently I do not participate in any insurance plan, but I am happy to provide a bill that includes a diagnostic code and a service code as well as my tax ID, which can be submitted to many insurance plans for out-of-network reimbursement. Payment in full is due at the time of the session.  I accept cash, check, and credit card.

Medications:  Please keep track of your medications, and whether you will need a refill in the near future, including any holiday or vacation needs.  Typically, we will handle medication discussions and refills during our sessions; if you find that you need to request a refill at another time, please allow 2 business days for the request to be filled.  If you need me to carry out extensive negotiation with your insurance or prescription plan over the medication, there may be additional fees for the time required.

Coverage: I endeavor to be accessible for brief non-urgent questions by phone, by email, and text, and will attempt to respond to all messages by the end of the following business day at the latest.  For longer phone calls, involving more complex clinical discussions and treatment matters, telephone sessions will be billed according to length.  If I am going to be on vacation or for any other reason inaccessible, there will always be a covering psychiatrist whose information will be on my voicemail.  For urgent matters, please call or text me, however, please do not wait for my response before calling 911 or proceeding to a hospital if there is any question of safety.
